by Keith Feagin, internCleveland, Ohio – October 30, 2013 was Halloween eve but there was nothing spooky about the Cavs home opener. It was obvious that there was electricity in the building Wednesday night. Cleveland fans showed up from miles around to witness what could be a playoff season that has eluded the team post LBJ. So much has changed in the past few years, as a shadow of a once proud version of the past Central Division Champs haunted the Quicken’s Loans Arena. If last night posed any question of the passion that still resides in the fans of Cleveland, the answer would be a resounding yes! Fans showed their team spirit decked out in their Maroon, Blue, and Gold, spray painted hair, and even free t-shirts were giving as a surprise gift to fans. Dan Gilbert wants to show the city of Cleveland and the Cleveland Cavs fans that he, just like some patrons of the Horseshoe Casino, is all in! The Cavs boast one of the brightest young super stars in the league in Kyrie Irving plus 4 other Cavs first round picks Tristan Thompson, Dion Waiters, Tyler Zeller, and Anthony Bennett. The Cavs have also brought in key veterans like Andrew Bynum and Jarrett Jack. Also We can’t forget the new coach is also the old coach in Mike Brown. No one knows what the season will hold because this last win 98-94 over the Brooklyn Nets is just 1 of 82 games. However the excitement is starting to build and the Indians and Browns are leaving the door open for the Cavs to once again become Clevelands favorite team.
