Reporter Leah Haslage was at University Hospitals Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital today for the unveiling of Bo the Take Care Bear, the new Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital mascot! Bo’s mission is to help make children feel better and to brighten their days, lifting spirits by giving hugs. Bo the Take Care Bear is from American Greetings, who first introduced Care Bears in 1982. The Care Bears are “determined to help children everywhere understand their feelings and emotions through love, music, belly badges magic and big Care Bear hugs.”

Patricia DePompei, RN, MSN, President of Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital and UH MacDonald Women’s Hospital says, ” We are so excited to add Bo, The Take Care Bear, to our Rainbow Family. Care Bears have been long synonymous with caring and, that’s our number one mission at Rainbow. We believe that Bo will be a familiar face to children and families to soften the health care experience by helping children feel better and brighten their day.”

The kids were so excited to meet Bo, The Take Care Bear! They also received their own Care Bear, as well as other gifts, and cake was provided for them to enjoy during the celebration. Bo definitely brightened their days and is a wonderful addition to the Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital!
