Healthy Cleveland: HPV and Vaccinations

TV20’s Leah Haslage sits down with the Director of the Office of Cancer Disparities Research, CWRU Dr. Monica Webb Hooper PhD, and the Director of Public Health for the City of Cleveland to discuss the risks factors of HPV, or human papillomavirus, and some preventive measures to take to protect yourself and your loved ones.

HPV is the most common sexually transmitted infection (STI) according to the CDC.

About 79 million Americans are now infected with HPV. About 14 million people become newly infected each year. HPV is so common that most sexually active men and women will get at least one type of HPV at some point in their lives. (Center for Disease Control).

Mayor Frank G. Jackson’s 2016 Highlights of Success

The city of Cleveland has seen unprecedented success in 2016. Journey with Mayor Frank Jackson and  TV20 for a recap of the year and a peak at what can be expected in the years to come.

Mayor Jackson swore in the cities first Hispanic Chief of Fire, Angelo Calvillo, and first female Commissioner of Emergency Medical Services, Nicole Carlton.

He also signed into legislation law ordinance 1446-13 allowing transgender residents to use the restroom that correlates with their gender identity.

The Mayor discussed the many successes in Cleveland sports in 2016, as well as, the Republican National Convention.

He also answered important questions about how Cleveland can become a sustainable city and economy by the year 2019.
