 Browns Barkevious Mingo Draft 1

Well the wait is finally over! The Cleveland Browns highly anticipated draft under a new regime has kicked off!  Although the Browns could have selected Alabama cornerback Dee Milliner, the player I thought who the Browns were taking in the first round, they decided to roll with Barkevious Mingo, LSU defensive end with the number 6 overall pick.

Way before the Browns called Mingo’s name he seemed to be the perfect fit for Cleveland.  Mingo arrived to the 2013 NFL Draft dressed to impress!  When I say dressed to impress, I actually mean dressed to impress the best fans in the sports world.  When Mingo’s name was called by the Browns at number 6, the cameras focused in on a well presented young man who decided to wear a brown striped tie and an orange pocket square.  This moment seemed way too staged but it was actually a great pick for the Cleveland Browns.

Mingo said it was “a real big coincidence” he wore the Browns colors to the draft.  With that being said regardless if it was on purpose or a mistake, Mingo definitely made a huge impact on Browns fans and the entire city.  He will definitely be embraced by the infamous “Dawg Pound”.

Browns Barkevious Mingo Draft

The 6-foot-4, 241-pound athlete who played defensive end in college will be switching to the outside linebacker position for the Browns new defensive scheme under Ray Horton.  Mingo is a superb athlete that has great speed off the edge.  He will be a perfect fit for the new 3-4 defense.

Mingo has definitely been well prepared for the next level style of play because the SEC may be the best conference to prepare players for the NFL.  Mingo posted a time of 4.58 seconds in the 40-yard dash.  With the combination of Mingo’s size and speed he should be a monster pass-rusher in the 3-4 defensive scheme.
