Breast Cancer Awareness Month

In case you didn’t know, October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. We want to remind you of the importance of self-examination, as well as getting your yearly mammogram for early breast cancer detection. The goal is to find cancers before they start to cause symptoms. Breast cancers that are found because they are causing symptoms tend to be larger and are more likely to have already spread beyond the breast. Early detection tests for breast cancer save thousands of lives each year, and that many more lives could be saved if even more women and their health care providers took advantage of these tests. Following the American Cancer Society’s guidelines for the early detection of breast cancer improves the chances that breast cancer can be diagnosed at an early stage and treated successfully. For more information checkout the American Cancer Society website at cancer.org and pinkribbon.org.

West Side Market Centennial Celebration!

TV20 reporter Leah Haslage was at the West Side Market Centennial Celebration in Ohio City this past Sunday. Despite the gloomy weather, thousands of people showed up to celebrate this milestone. A parade down Lorain Avenue and W.25th  street was filled with local merchants, St. Ignatius High School Marching Band and even Mayor Frank Jackson along with Councilman Joe Cimperman. Leah interviewed Councilman Cimperman about this event and what it means for not only Ohio City, but for all of Cleveland.    TV20 even got exclusive coverage of Councilman Cimperman and his family releasing a Dove in Market Square!

The Market was packed with people, musicians played on different stages and there was even a hot dog contest! The festivities concluded with the official lighting of the West Side Market clock tower!
