Black History Month

We are one month into 2014, happy February! February is the month of love, with Valentine’s Day around the corner as well as the month to spread awareness for heart disease by wearing red. Not only is it the month for those amazing concepts, it is also Black History month. Today marked the beginning of a month full of great events honoring this purpose. Today was the opening ceremony with Monyka S. Price, Chief of Education as the guest speaker. Our very own Ciarra Nelson was there to witness this event! There are other events happening throughout the month which I will list for you:

– Wednesday February 12th, Black Culture Bazaar, held at City Hall Rotunda at 12pm. This event will touch on sustainable economics with Dominic Ozanne, President and CEO of Ozanne Construction as the speaker.

-Thursday February 13th, Celebrate Health, 11am, City Hall Rotunda. Go red for women- heart health information, vendors and actitivies.

Thursday February 20th, Ministers’ breakfast, 9am Trinity Commons. This service will have Director of Community Relations, Blaine Griffin as the guest speaker. (Invitation only)

Friday February 21st, Citywide Employee Recognition Ceremony, 12pm, Cleveland Water Department. This service will have Michael Cox, Director of Public works speaking. (City of Cleveland Employee’s only)

Friday February 28th, The Crowning Event; A salute to Arnold Pinkney, 12pm, City Hall Rotunda. This is invitation only and will have special guests.
