This week, Chief Darnell Brown, Chief Calvin Williams, and Commander Harold Pretel held a press conference regarding the current state on reopening Public Square.
On Tuesday, December 6, 2016 a press conference was held to announce a new partnership between the Cleveland Municipal Court and the Laura and John Arnold Foundation (LJAF).
An evidence based pre-trial risk assessment will be implemented into the Cleveland Municipal Court system as a result of this new partnership.
The tool will help judges to determine whether a defendant is a risk to the community and ought to be detained prior to their trial, or if the defendant is safe to release.

Mayor Frank G. Jackson Announces the Appointment of the New Chief of Prevention, Intervention and Opportunity for Youth, Duane Deskins, today, Tuesday December 6, 2016. Deskins has worked as the Chief Prosecutor for the Juvenile Division and as the Director of Juvenile Crime Prevention in the city of Cleveland.

The City of Cleveland just released newly developed Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) policies and is requesting public feedback. Among the organizations involved in hatching the new policies are the Cleveland Division of Police, the Consent Decree Monitoring Team, the Drug Addiction and Mental Health Services (ADAMHS) Board of Cuyahoga County, the Mental Health Response Advisory Committee of the Alcohol, the Department of Justice, and the United States Attorney’s Office.
