Diwali Celebration At City Hall!

 

Diwali, which is also called the “festival of lights” was recently celebrated at the City Hall Rotunda. Diwali is one of the most important festivals of the year and is celebrated in families by performing traditional activities together in their homes. During Diwali, all the celebrants wear new clothes and share sweets and snacks with family members and friends. Diwali also involves the lighting of small clay lamps, filled with oil to signify the triumph of good over evil, and are kept on during the night. At the event there were plenty of delicious food being served,many guest wore beautiful traditional dress and each table had a candle in the middle to represent the oil lamps. The guests were entertained with dancers, and helped get everyone in the Diwali spirit!

 

 

Mayor Frank Jackson spoke to the guests and was excited to be a part of the celebration.
