Community Spotlight: Cleveland Leadership Center

You may have seen our previous blog on Accelerate, the pitch competition being held by the Cleveland Leadership Center. In this episode of Community Spotlight, host Leah Haslage sat down with Michael Bennett, Vice President of External Affairs for the Cleveland Leadership Center,  Brittany O’Connor, Vice President of Public Affairs for Citizens Bank, and Jowan Smith, a 2017 Accelerate Finalist & owner of Getting Our Babies to College 101, to discuss the Cleveland Leadership Center and some of the resources available through the C.L.C.

Before its official opening on July 1st, 2006, the Cleveland Leader Center was once four separate organizations: Leadership Cleveland, Cleveland Bridge Builders, Campus Cleveland, and Look Up To Cleveland. Since then, the Cleveland Leadership Center has brought collaboration, inspiration, and knowledge to the City of Cleveland.

The Cleveland Leadership Center can be broken down into six categories, based on where someone is in their professional or education career:

  • Look Up To Cleveland: high school
  • Campus Cleveland: college students
  • OnBoard Cleveland: early-career
  • Cleveland Bridge Builders: mid-career
  • Leadership Cleveland and LC2 Fellows: senior-level
  • Civic Leadership Institute: adults of all ages

Through these various resources, C.L.C. hopes to bring together like-minded and positive individuals to grow and improve the City of Cleveland.
