Today I had the pleasure of conducting an interview with the undefeated, Northeast Ohio Champion and the new IBF World Welterweight Champion, Cleveland’s own Shawn “Showtime” Porter!

Shawn who was born in Cleveland, Ohio started his boxing career at the age of four years old training under his father at the Salvation Army in Cleveland’s inner city.  Shawn is currently trained and managed by his father Kenny Porter who is one of the most important figures in his life.  Once Shawn figured out that Boxing was his calling in life it was no turning back from there.

As an amateur Shawn compiled an outstanding record of 276-14.  In 2007 he won the World Golden Gloves Championship and began his path to greatness.  Before choosing boxing as his pride and joy he also excelled on the field as a high school running back.

Heading into his most recent IBF World Welterweight title fight Shawn owned a record of 22-0-1.  He walked out of that fight 23-0-1 and the new IBF World Welterweight Champion! Congratulations to Shawn “Showtime” Porter for your great accomplishment, the City of Cleveland is proud to call you CHAMP!
