Mayor Jackson's Sustainability Summit - news

First on the list we have the Mayor’s Sustainability Summit. Sustainable Cleveland 2019 is an initiative that was introduced by Mayor Frank Jackson back in 2009 with the goal of building a thriving “green city on a blue lake”. This plan created a frame work for Clevelanders to follow and work together to build a resilient region. We can do this by focusing our attention on key areas fundamental to a suitable economy, Cleveland has been “going green” more and more throughout the years. Mayor Jackson’s 6th Annual Sustainability Summit was held at Public Auditorium. Roughly 500 business leaders, Government Officials, students, educators, and more attended to help Mayor’s vision come true.

The vision is clear: Cleveland will become a model of sustainability and become a leader in the emerging green economy over the next 10 years., due to the on-going efforts of Sustainable Cleveland 2019! Our community can help improve human health over-all through the elimination of hazardous waste, and by spreading the word to get more and more people involved. This event has been a success year after year, and 2014 was no exception!

Global Cleveland

Next on the list we have The Global Cleveland Event. Global Cleveland, is a non-profit organization that focuses on Regional economic development through attracting newcomers. The Faith Leaders Community Conversation Agenda event was held at the Centers for Families and children. This event was an open-ended discussion on how to create an inclusive and welcoming Community right  here in Cleveland!

There was also a panel discussion held where refugees and immigrants, like Nadia Martinovics gave their testimonial of migrating and living in Cleveland.

The mission of Global Cleveland is to increase the population of Greater Cleveland and strengthen the region by working with employers, colleges and universities and community organizations to attract and connect newcomers to the region’s opportunities, resources and services, and promoting the region as a welcoming place for all.

Back to the Future: Waterfront Tour Part 2

All aboard! Many lucky residents in our area got the opportunity come aboard the Goodtime 3 and tour the Lake Erie Shoreline! The Back to the Future: Cleveland Waterfront Tour Part 2, allowed for people to see what the future holds four our magnificent waterfront. A presentation was given by Mayor Frank Jackson, and Chief of Regional Development, Edward Rybka, regarding these new plans.

The event was not only informative, but fun, as Clevelanders came across many City landmarks during the tour. This event showcased our city in a  whole new light.

The Goodtime 3 - news

Back in June, City Council approved legislation beginning the next steps in the Lakefront plan.  This agreement entails that the developer would build roughly 1,000 apartments, 80,000 square feet of commercial space, and approximately 40,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space. The areas slated for development are near some of Cleveland’s biggest attractions!

Burke Corporate Aviation Expo

Next up on the list, was the Burke Corporate Aviation Expo! The 3rd Annual Expo was your exclusive chance to see the latest offerings in executive travel and gave Clevelanders the chance to socialize with the leaders of Northeast Ohio’s Business Community! Many residents gathered to see what advantages will arise from flying out of Burke Lakefront Airport.

Airport Director, Ricky Smith, teamed up with Mayor Frank Jackson to help business owners learn how to reach new heights- literally! David Griffin was the key-note speaker of the evening. He is the Cleveland Cavaliers General Manager. He joined the Cavs as Vice President in September of 2010. He offered helpful advice for local business owners in our area. Everyone involved in the Expo had nothing but praise and gratitude to offer.
